The Maiden

Each forest in the world, each ocean, desert, and snowy mountain side all have a maiden to watch over it. Each as beautiful and unique as the places they watch over. They heal and live with the lands and animals. Each Maiden very different from one another, and yet so often thought of as being the same. They are very few in numbers, as this age of time, though in their age, they were plentiful. People use to mistake them as large fairy like creatures, or elves of old. Many men if those times had taken them as wives, and in that sense, let evil in to the lands they were so given to protect. The reason of being for there being so little land left where man has not yet step foot on. And being that for example, if you take a leaf from the tree home then it’ll die, as these forest maidens and such were taken as wives, taken far from the forest and put in a castled … they died. The few that lived to pass on their the genes in their children mixed with their human fathers, these hybrid people are the new maidens of the day. Not born of the lands, but now of the flesh…. Maidens are most often female, those on occasions there could be a male, call a Sir of the Land, or sometimes known as the Maiden’s Keeper, or Forest Keeper.

Maiden’s or Keepers, sometimes have a ability to change shapes to being in different bodies. Like a fox, to cleverly get away, or a wild mountain cat to take down threatening trespassers entering their lands of possession. They’re often travel along side animals, or a curtain animal like a wild horse or wolf. Animals of all over respect and fallow the commands of the Maiden, and are even brought back to life or slain by her hands.  Maidens lives in many different kinds of elements, and are of many races, so for example you won’t find an Irish Maiden in Japan, You’d find her in Ireland. They’re of many colors, looks, and tongues.  They are also, Ageless and very rare to find, in any forests, or lands in this day in age.
